Call for Papers: Special Issue of the Journal of Peacebuilding & Develpment

PATRIR, in cooperation with the Journal of Peacebuilding and Development  http://www.journalpeacedev.org/, UNDP-BCPR and WANEP is inviting articles for a special issue of JPD on Infrastructures for Peace (I4P), with Visiting Editors Paul van Tongeren and Kai Brand-Jacobsen.  The special issue is inviting articles that explore how I4Ps function, drawing lessons from practical experiences which can contribute to improved policy and practice. It aims to advance thinking around the role, value and contribution of I4P to peacebuilding (including also prevention and post-war recovery).

Department of Peace Operations: Upcoming Nepal Programme


nepal mapIn cooperation with Alliance for Peace (AfP) Nepal, PATRIR's Department of Peace Operations will facilitate a series of workshops and strategic planning programmes from February 13 - 29. The workshops will include:

A 2 day Multi-Stakeholder Strategic Planning Process (17-18 February 2012) bringing together key stakeholders, ministries, and national and international organisations supporting the peace process and peacebuilding in Nepal;

A 5-day Community-Based Peacebuilding and Dialogue Process (20-24 February 2012) bringing together local, national and international organisations engaged in community-based peacebuilding, dialogue processes, and supporting local peace committees in infrastructure for peace (I4P) at the community and district level

A 2-3 day Preventing Electoral Violence (27-28 February 2012) workshop with government ministries and national and international organisations involved in electoral support and peacebuilding.

New partnership for training delivery: PATRIR's participation in the COTIPSO program

logo potiStarting with 2012 participants in the PATRIR-IPDTC's Advanced Certificate Programmes (ACP) have the posibility to enroll after graduation in the Certificate of Training in United Nations Peace Support Operations (COTIPSO) of the Peace Operations Training Institute. The opportunity is provided within the partnership signed between the two institutions, PATRIR becoming one of the international partners providing eligible training certificates for the enrollment into the COTIPSO programme. IPDTC has launched its 2012 Global Peacebuilding Training Calendar

The calendar contains 11 training programmes delivered throughout the next year through online and on-site means including locations as London, UK and Cluj Napoca, Romania. IPDTC Operational Peace Support System - PATRIR's new online professional development and support service

p1040360The Operational Peace Support Service (OPSS) is a continuously acessible online platform offering professional development and support services to experts/ practitioners engaged in war and post-war environment, academics, government representatives and civil society actors. During 2012 the OPSS offers several online training programmes on the topics of early warning & early response, the complexity of African conflicts and improvement of effectiveness of current peacebuilding operations, with plans to develop into an interactive platforms catering to real time interaction between the actors mentioned above.
